Silver metal is oxidised by ozone to silver oxide. This oxide is reduces back to finely divided silver metal, which is black.
2Ag+O3Ag2O+O2 (oxidation)
Ag2O+O32Ag+2O2 (reduction)
These are called mutual reduction reactions.
